Amber hails from southwestern Colorado where she lives a healthful life full of hiking, snowshoeing, Muy Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, conducting high altitude hop research, and home brewing. Amber received her training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), graduating in November 2015. At IIN she studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. In addition to her health coaching training, Amber was a Worksite Wellness Coordinator for small businesses in Durango, Colorado. In this position Amber worked at the worksite providing clients with individual bio-metrics screenings, health coaching, and help the business find ways to integrate wellness into the culture of the worksite.
Amber became passionate about helping others to live healthful lives after she overcame her battle with weight, anxiety, and depression. For years Amber was addicted to the SAD (standard american diet), you know soda, sweets, junk food, pizza, carbs, carbs, and some extra sugar on top. This coupled with an inactive lifestyle, a low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety created a recipe for disaster and Amber felt stuck in a vicious cycle. Then one day, four years ago, it clicked. Amber decided enough was enough. She began researching healthy diets and implementing what she learned; she started working on a farm where she had access to fresh vegetables and lots of manual labor, and she increased her physical activity. In addition she started working on her thoughts and her emotions through journaling and healthy relationships. It took time, but Amber is now medication free and is happier than she has ever been.
From Amber’s experience as a health coach, she realizes that no one wants to be unhealthy, to suffer from an illness, or experience high stress; yet every day we make choices that that lead to just that. In working with her clients, Amber noticed how a stress or imbalances in one area of their life overflowed to another area. She believes that we do not have to accept that as “just a part of life”. She believes that we can have overflowing wellness in all areas of our life. Amber’s goal as a health coach is to work with individuals who, like she did, struggle with anxiety, depression, and are addicted to the SAD. Amber’s goal is to help clients identify areas in their lives that they want to focus on, areas that resonate with them. By focusing on these key areas and bringing wellness there, one will find that wellness will overflow into the other areas of their lives too, giving one an opportunity to have an overflowing life. With her knowledge, Amber will co-create with the client completely personalized actions based on their goals to move them toward their ideal vision of health within their unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and resources.
